“Florescence: Riso Prints of Ojai Flora”
Riso Prints
In 2024, I started using Riso printing to bring photos documenting local flora to life. Riso is a process that's part silkscreen, part photocopying, known for its bright, glowing colors. David Haskell's book How Flowers Made Our World particularly inspired me, showing flowers as more than just pretty things. It presents them as tough, adaptable, and even tricky forces that are essential to life. This exhibition, which took place at The Mega Gallery in Ojai from July 17 to September 6, 2026, draws on that book and builds on my Riso printing work. At its heart, this collection celebrates the joy and beauty of flowers. But these floral portraits point to something deeper, too. They invite viewers to enjoy the beauty at first glance—then look again. Note: These images represent the show, but do not include every work. Riso print on French cover-weight paper (Lemondrop)
